We all seem to have a kind of repulsion and fascination with serial killers and their stories. Who are these serial killers and what motivates them to take the life of another human being?
Brady and Hindley killed five innocent children between 1963 and 1965 in Greater Manchester, England. The victims were aged 10-17 years old and were brutally sexually assaulted before the murder. Three of the five were discovered in dug graves in Saddleworth Moor, and one was found at Brady’s house. The whereabouts of the fifth victim, Keith Bennett is still unknown. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment, where Hindley died, and Brady was transferred to a heavily guarded hospital, Ashton Hospital.
Bittaker and Norris were nicknamed ‘The Tool box Killers’. In 1979, they lured 5 women into their van, one by one, took them to a secluded area, brutally raped and abused them and then murdered them.
In 1981, they were charged with kidnapping, murder, and rape. Bittaker was sentenced to life imprisonment and then execution while Norris was exempted from execution in return for his testimony against Bittaker. He was sentenced to only 45 years in prison.
Dennis Rader, the BTK killer, murdered 10 people in Kansas between 1974 and 1991. He sent taunting letters to the police under the name BTK (Bind, torture, kill). He would stalk his victims first, then bind their limbs together before strangling them. He disappeared in 1988, and re-emerged in 2005, when he sent a floppy disk to the press. This was his step to downfall. The media and police tracked him, and upon being found, he confessed his crimes. Now, he has 10 consecutive sentences and his earliest release date is Feb, 2180.
Pedro is a serial killer, who confessed the murder and rape of over 300 girls in South America. He lured them to secluded areas, raped them then used really, really brutal methods for killing them. He confessed to 300 murders and helped in the recovery of 53 bodies. He was imprisoned in 1980 and served for 18 years before being released from an Ecuadorian prison. He was then transferred to a Colombia, where he was arrested again and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2002.
