Beauty is all about who you are and what you are capable of. Time and again one hears such quotes and fancy talks! There have been a lot of talk and hype about women empowerment and equal rights for females recently. Even our film industry has become inclusive of massive changes, regarding the crazy standards of beauty and commodification of women. It has started embracing all kinds of skins and features, and is no longer bound to certain limits which defined standard and cliche definition of ‘beauty’.
Something very similar is done by ‘Femina’ and ‘Lux’ brand currently. In a recent post, Femina magazine posted pictures with some leading ladies of Bollywood using hashtag ‘ IAmMoreThanYouCanSee’ which is taking the internet by storm. And why shouldn’t it? After all, women in India had really tough time, they fought a long battle with patriarchy and it is this generation of females who are now experiencing the light at the end of the tunnel. It is this generation in which women no longer care what opinion society holds for them and what people expect them to be like. They are independent, strong and most importantly, they have embraced themselves as they are (without changing themselves to please society).
Leading ladies of Bollywood ( Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone) have been featured with the hashtag mentioned above. What is making this post on internet popular is that all these four ladies have been trolled and scrutinized on social media platforms for some reason or the other, and despite all obstacles, they rose like a phoenix and carved their niche.
Be it trolling Alia for being “without any general knowledge”, Kareena Kapoor for her “size-zero style”, Kriti Sanon for her ‘figure’ or Deepika Padukone for her relationships! Every female mentioned here has been an example to us girls to not let ‘societal norms and archaic values’ crush our dreams and have made us live the life the way we want to!
