You have seen his groove in the 1990s with top actresses like Mamata Kulkarni. Who can forget his grooves with Koena Mitra in ‘Khulam Khulla’ song from the movie ‘Road’? Ganesh Acharya is a renowned name in the Bollywood industry and is best known for choreographing actor Govinda’s songs which have been massive hits. Here is the list of five songs that made a difference in his life and the stories regarding them which will melt your heart. Read on!
1. Goriya Chura Na Mera Jiya (Cooloe, 1995)
The choreographer tells that this song is a ‘take off’ song for his career. There were big guns in choreography (Bollywood) like Saroj Khan who were keen to choreograph this song. The producer of the movie did not want Ganesh to give the steps to this song because he was new in this field. But actor Govinda and director David Dhawan were determined to rope in Ganesh. They somehow convinced the producer and finally, the song came to him. The song became a huge hit and Ganesh Acharya got massive recognition in the Hindi Film Industry.
2.Beedi Jalaile (Omkara, 2006)
This was the one and only song that the choreographer did with director Vishal Bhardwaj. At that time, Ganesh was very perplexed to find a new step for his song. He wanted a step that audience can easily catch. Through this song, Ganesh gave a ‘patang’ step and the step became thoroughly popular in the country. Bipasha did a fantastic job in the song as she was the cast in this item number. The lyrics of the song by Gulzar were so awesome that each and every boy in India was in love with the track. Acharya also received the Film Fare Award for the first time in his life for this song.
3.Masti Ki Paathshala ( Rang De Basanti, 2006)
Remember the clap and tap step of ‘Masti Ki Paathshala’ track? The shoot was very random but the step became a signing step. It got popular among all teenagers and college going students. The shoot was done in Jaipur and for two long days, he did a single step with actor Aamir Khan to bring perfection.
4.Chikni Chameli (Agneepath,2012)
After 20 years of being in the film industry, Ganesh Acharya got a call from Dharma Production to choreograph this song. This was one of the biggest challenges for him. The reason was that actress Katarina (who was the cast in the song) never did a dance like this in her whole career. It was a hard task to mould Katrina in the ‘Marathi ‘ dance form. The actress and the choreographer left no stone unturned to bring perfection to the item number. The choreographer once again received the Film Fare Award for this song.
4.Malhari (Bajirao Mastani,2012)
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali thought that the character of the actor Ranveer Singh as a king would not allow him to dance. But Acharya gave him the suggestion that Ranveer can dance and that too without looking out of the character. Therefore, the choreographer composed the dance moves which suited the ‘king’ character and managed to connect it with the viewers. This was the time Ganesh Acharya collaborated with Bhansali after ‘Ram Leela’ song ‘Tattad Tattad’.
