Vidya Balan’s Unfettered Performance Deserves Claps In Tumhari Sulu!
This movie is the one in which each Indian woman would see a little bit of herself in Sulu (played by Vidya Balan). Sulu is a middle aged woman who juices joy and happiness from any and every situation. She knows how to be happy with whatever little she has. Put down and criticized by her elder sisters, Sulu is a type of a lady who does not let the spark of madness die inside her because of people not liking or judging her. She goes on with the undying attitude of “mai kar sakti hai” without thinking about the world.
Her world becomes exciting when she lands a job of night time Radio Jockey, who talks with sensuality to men. This career and her “live life queen size” attitude later takes a toll on her family life which is palpable through strong and impressive characters of the movie. Manav Kaul as Sulu’s husband is stupendous. He is reluctant but loving, controlling but understanding and with these personality traits he brings his typical ‘Indian husband’s role to life.
Speaking about Vidya Balan’s acting, she is a true flesh and blood character through Sulu. She has pumped life into this character and made it as believable as it can get. The second half of the movie is little stretchy and this is the only problem with the flick. Had it been edited tighter, the flick would have been enhanced much more. To sum it up, Tumhari Sulu is a must watch!
